My orchid has what looks like roots growing out the sides of the stalks. What should I do, if anything? There is lots of new growth and shoots on my orchid. What puzzles me is that there are clumps of what looks like new roots growing out of them at points 3" and 6" up the sides of the old stalks. Sometimes the roots are in the same location of a new shoot that has started. Should I cut the stalks and re-plant the part with the new roots? Is this an indication that I need to re-pot the orchid? The orchid sure seems to be happy because I have never had one grow so vigorously, so it is hard to think about disturbing it now. What should I do, if anything?
How do I get my potted Orchid to bloom again? I purchased an orchid about 4 months ago. I beleive it is a Phaleonopsis orchid. It lives in a pot in my apartment. It lost all it's blooms about 2 months ago. Will it bloom again? How long will it take? Do I need to trim the stem that the old flowers were on, or will it bloom again on the old stem? Just want some more basic info!
How would I care for my Phalaenopsis orchid after the blooms are gone? I have a Phalaenopsis orchid that has a spike growing directly out of the crown. The spike is actually a thin stem that is growing from out of the crown. It is unlike any of my other Phalaenopsis orchids. What should I do once it is through blooming? How will it grow after the blooms are gone? If you don't know what I'm talking about, you probably don't have the experience to adequately answer my question. It's called a terminal spike.
How can I save the orchid my friend gave me the other day? My friend gave me this purple orchid he picked from their garden the other day. It's really special so I want to keep it "alive." How can I make my orchid bloom again? I rec'd an orchid as a gift several years back and it bloomed beautiful purple flowers for the first couple years. However, the last few years, it seems to be struggling. It grows and grows and starts new shoots off the old ones, but the flower buds shrivel up and fall off. Eventually, the new shoots partially shrivel up and well. I let the moss dry out and then water. It's in a South facing window that never gets direct sunlight, but gets plenty of indirect light. The excess water is allowed to filter through. I've used an orchid fertilizer in the past, but haven't recently as it didn't seem to be improving the blooming problems. Some of the roots are coming up out of the moss. I hope that this provides enough info that someone can help! I *will* choose a best answer, and appreciate any "stars" and good answers that I get! Thank you in advance!
How can I make my Cattelya Orchid bloom? I have 2 Cattelya Orchids- one for 3 years and one for 2 years now. I had them in Florida inside with a bright filtered light window and gave them orchid grow fertilizer about every week and a half-2wks. They've grown big (trippled in size actually) and seem to do well in orchid bark mix with spagnum moss around the top surface. I've moved to Indiana 2-3 months ago and they again have a perfect window and seem to be doing just fine. Good sturdy, green leaves, and I let them dry out between waterings and then drench them good leaching the medium each time. But, even using Orchid Bloom instead of orchid grow fertilizer, I can't seem to get them to bloom! What else can I do? Am I doing something wrong?
I have an Orchid in a pot without holes. Do I repot it now or after the blooms are gone? I just received this Moth Orchid for Mother's day. I just read on another web site that it should be in a pot with drainage holes. I have really great blooms on it right now, but I am concerned because I watered it about three weeks ago and the medium is still quite moist. I don't want to drown the poor thing, but I don't want to send it into shock, either, by transplanting it. What is the best thing to do?
How do I fix my ailing orchid? I have an orchid that we received as a wedding present that is now turning yellow and loosing its leaves. It is the kind of orchid that has little hips that the leaves come out of (not phalenopsis...sp?) Should I fertilize it (which involves water) or let it dry out? We also don't have the best lighting in our house. Is there any hope for it?
What is the proper way to care for an orchid? I have Phalaenopsis or Moon Orchid. My hubby gave it to me for mothers day. I really love it but I don't have much of a green thumb. It has a card that shows how to care for it, but it doesn't say if it is safe to put outside sometimes. If anyone has a better explination of how to care for them please let me know. I see some spots of the flower are turning orange from what used to be a fuscia/purple color.

How should I take care of my orchid? I just bought an orchid (phaleanopsis). It had 4 blossomed flowers and about 12 bulbs. When it got home immediately 4 bulbs fell. The next day, one of the flowers died, a second one follows, and 4 more bulbs fell. The leaves seem really healthy. They told me that orchids should be watered once a week. I would like to know how to keep my orchid healthy and how can a "revive it". Should I repot it? Change the "soil"? Add fertilizer?

I would greatly appreciate any advice from someone with experience growing nobile Dendrobiums. Thank you.

The bottom of my orchid stem is brown, but I still have my blooms. Have I cause crown rot? The very bottom of my White Phalaenopsis Orchid stem is brown. But i still have three flowers on my stem. Someone had said that i caused crown rot and that i should give up on the plant because crown rot is usually fatal. The leaves are green and strong. The stem itself is green with some yellowing in it. Should I really give up on it and buy a new one? Or can this one be saved?
